HELP KEEP KULA KAI CLEAN!
An increase of litter has been seen discarded along roadways throughout our community. Items such as cans, bottles, food waste, and cigarette butts*. We do not want to attract rats, mongoose, or other unwanted pests and we wish to maintain the natural beauty of our little slice of paradise here in Ocean View. Therefore, we kindly ask for everyone’s help to keep our neighborhood clean. While we do recognize that the strong winds in our area are often a contributing factor regarding this issue, we ask that residents do their best to secure trash on your property and during transport to the transfer station to lessen the possibility of items being blown around. We also ask that you encourage guests and work crews to not toss trash from their vehicles as they drive through our community. Mahalo to those residents who are doing their part in picking up the litter and spreading aloha in its place!
FIRE HAZARD WARNING
As most everyone has noticed, we are currently experiencing drought conditions since we have not had much rainfall in the past several weeks. This has made roadside grasses extremely dry and vulnerable to brush fires. The strong winds and caves in our area would cause any fire to quickly spread and escalates the risk of becoming a devastating event.
*Studies have proven that discarded cigarette butts account for at least 33% of brush fires with increased cases depending on wind speed and dryness of vegetation. We ask that everyone refrains from discarding cigarettes and matches onto the ground as a preventative measure.
Proper vehicle use can also help prevent brush fires so please be sure to avoid parking over tall grass and secure any towing chains, loose mufflers or exhaust pipes from dragging along the ground.
Please also check with the fire department before burning any debris.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following these precautions to help keep our homes safe from possible wildfires. Mahalo!
Right of Way Mowing
Would like to thank Larry Hayes, who has been working diligently on repairing the tractor and the bush hog, and has been able to resume mowing the Right of Way in our development. Mahalo Larry!
